[after hanging up with Nike, he'd spent the next couple of hours alternating between pacing around his room, into the kitchen, back into his room, contemplating going outside...]

(What am I supposed to do?)

[...tossing and turning in bed, getting back up to pace around his room, lean against the wall and brood- it was a routine by this point. by the time his eyes fell heavy, laying back on his bed, Cloud's gaze settled on the faint glow of the night sky outside his window. she was out there...waiting for him like he promised he would to come find her. what was she thinking about right now? the phone sex was one thing, but it was the resulting feelings that blossomed that were really what mattered. was she worried about him? about what they would become or not become? there were too many damn questions to be had, and it was the biggest reason behind why Cloud was still up so late.

!

[he froze, his brain trying to catch up with what his eyes were seeing as there was someone curled up on his couch. she was there... what was she doing there? why was she here?]

Nike...? ....ah.

[what else was there to say? his heart already had an answer, it was just a matter of getting it out there. but he couldn't help but faintly smile, though she couldn't see it right now, it was one of rare affection and some amusement. shaking his head, he made his way for the kitchen briefly. he wasn't ready to have something to eat yet, but when Nike eventually came to (much as he thought about waking her up, she looked so peaceful), she'd find a familiar blond swordsman sitting across from her, taking in the moment after having had some tea.

he was wrong. the dream didn't have to end]
